Default In-Game Event Announcement Needed

I popped into Kamadan yesterday, forgetting that it was the day of the Winterfest gift donation for the Taiwan server players. Chaos and panic don't quite fully describe the situation.

Because of the nature of the event (it had been set up through fan sites) the general community had no idea what was going on when the GM showed up and stated he was there to collect the donations. Players were checking guildwars.com and finding nothing current about it. I stayed until the GM left, constantly explaining to people that it was not a scam and why it was taking place.

My suggestion is that ANet put up an in-game announcement for such events. Such as the one you get when you zone into KC or LA about the available hero and travel to Kamadan with a character who has not yet been there.

------------------------
And it seems some explanation is required.

During the Winterfest (a celebration that takes place in Tyria and Elona only), Taiwan lost internet access due to an earthquake. They could not participate in the final day festivities when Grenth and Dwayna arrived every 3 hours in LA and Kamadan to shower their worshippers with presents. ANet extended the festivities (games, etc.) past the normal shutoff day, but could not supply the gift-giving for a single server event.

After being bombarded with questions from fans, ANet announced that the Taiwan server would be receiving unopened gifts at a give-away event on a future date. They explained that they did not need gifts as they would be using the ones collected by ANet from the inaccessible (to players) drop areas. Fans insisted that they would like to donate, so ANet said that there would be a donation collection event arranged.

They could put Announcement Boards in the main cities, like a big wood panel, with papers, you click on it (use enviroment object, yellow name) and those announcement show, with a tip saying: "Visit www.guildwars.com for more information)

an in-game message board for upcoming and current events would be very handy for stuff you can't normally put on the log-in screen
